The trip to NHQ here in Woodstock, VA was pretty smooth. I had my mom take me up to BWI, where the other consultants were flying in and we all rode back to the house together. It was good first week getting to know each other, and luckily our group works together very well! I already feel like I've known these girls for a lot longer than just two weeks. There's five other consultants besides me.
-Tiffany, from KY here for a 2nd year
-Michelle, from Chicago
-Colleen, from NC
-Nicole, from St. Louis
-Morgan, from Springfield, Illinois
We seem to be a pretty well rounded group with our talents and past experiences and I'm greatly looking forward to working with them this upcoming year!
After spending almost a week here in VA, we traveled to Greenville, NC on Friday July 10 and stayed there until Thursday July 16. A lot of Tri Sigma's National Officers and a great deal of alumnae reside in NC and traveled to Greenville to help us with training. We stayed at the Gamma Beta Chapter House at East Carolina University in Greenvile which was very exciting since my chapter didn't have a house! We enjoyed staying in a town larger than Woodstock for the week and took advantage of our downtime on the comfy sofas!
In NC we spent our first day at Duke University doing the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" workshop with an alumnae. The campus was beautiful and it was nice to be back in a familiar area after living in Raleigh in June. We had the evening free to travel back to Greenville and were able to stop in Raleigh to have dinner with my boyfriend Sam and his roommate Traylor. We met various National Officers that week and concluded our trip having dinner with our National President, Laura Sweet, and our Collegiate VP, Emily Ellis. It was exciting to finally meet these women that we have heard and learned so much about during our collegiate experiences, and the food was delicious too!
We've kept on with the training after returning last Thursday but were excited to have this past weekend off as they're the first days of training we've actually had free! As there's not too much to do in Woodstock, we traveled about 30 min. south to Harrisonburg where James Madison University is. We took this opportunity to spend our first "big girl paychecks" on shopping, pedicures and a nice dinner! Getting away from the house for the weekend was much needed to help clear our minds and it was nice to site see in another town.
This Saturday we'll be traveling to Indiannapolis for two conferences where all sorority consultants across the country will be attending. One is on Risk Management and the other is about Recruitment. I am excited to see some girls I know that are traveling for other sororities and as well to see a new city! We are scheduled to go to a baseball game while we're there and of course...we're hoping to find some more shopping as well :)
Until next time,
xoxo Anna
